The Specials (The Special AKA) are an English 2 Tone ska revival band formed in 1977. They had major influences at Blur, Gwen Stefani, The Ordinary Boys and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
They are considered to be the greatest ska band ever existed. Genres: 2 tone, Ska, New Wave.
Members: Jerry Dammers, Neville Staple, Terry Hall, Sir Horace Gentleman, John Bradbury, Roddy Radiation, Lynval Golding. They used to wear mod/rude boy/skinhead-style two-tone tonic suits, and other elements of late 1960s teen fashions. Joe Strummer (The Clash) had seen one of their concerts, and offered The Special AKA to open for his band in their On Parole UK Tour.
