The Adverts - English punk rock band of the 1970s and enjoyed early commercial success. They were formed by by T.V. Smith and Gaye Advert, one of the first female punk star. Band members: Gaye Advert, Laurie Driver, Howard Pickup, TV Smith. The band was influenced by: The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Buzzcocks. After they mastered just one chord, they started playing at London's Roxy Club in 1976. Genre: punk rock. They got noticed after their gigs supporting Generation X, Slaughter & the Dogs, The Damned.
